I believe that it is important to focus not only on mental health, but on the whole person. No one part of our being survives alone. All parts play significant roles, including physical, emotional and spiritual elements. I believe that we all have an innate ability to follow our intuition and achieve what we want in our lives. Often, we need to relearn to trust our intuition because life experiences have convinced us to fight against what we know to be best for us. My passion is helping others to relearn this balance to make the best out of life. I have a strong passion for working with trauma survivors, those struggling with depression and anxiety, those with difficulty regulating their emotions, and struggling with their identity or sense of self, including sexuality and gender identity. My approach is multidimensional and based on each clients needs. I believe therapy is an important piece to the puzzle. I also help my clients explore alternative treatment approaches that may assist in healing. There is a lot of great stuff out there! I think these are just as important in achieving the best possible outcome!

"I offer counseling services to couples, individuals, and young adults. I have been a psychologist with over 13 years of experience. I help you draw on your strengths, foster emotional resilience, and reshape your relationships to live more fulfilling. I will help you gain insight into your behavior, origins of your feelings, and break unhealthy habits. Working with couples, I help each person recognize unhealthy patterns and communication skills. I'll then guide both partners to make changes within the marriage so that both partners can thrive and grow together as a whole to have a more fulfilling relationship together. With my encouragement, you'll identify barriers that keep you stuck, release emotions that weigh you down, and make empowering choices that free you from the past and create a promising new future."

I believe that people are responsible for and capable of making their own decisions within the context of their environment. We are all controlled by our environment to a certain extent but we have more control that we realize. We always have freedom to choose. I believe that all behaviors are purposeful and that these behaviors are designed to meet our needs. At times, there are better ways to get our needs met which requires changing our behaviors. We are capable of learning new behaviors, of changing behaviors, and of eliminating behaviors that cause unhealthy ways of meeting needs. I believe people's problems may arise from unfinished business from the past and, although some exploration of causation may help to clarify the connection between the past and present, most problems can be worked through by focusing on the here and now, on what choices the person has now. I also believe that many problems experienced by people today are societal or systemic rather than interpersonal or intra-personal. Deprivation, limited access to resources, and chronic oppression due to gender, race, ethnicity, class or sexual orientation can create psychological problems.
