    As a therapist, I am committed to providing a safe and comfortable place for you to work through stressful situations and road blocks that prevent personal growth. I am dedicated to empowering you to achieve personal success in the therapy process helping to identify ways to create change and to address specific needs and goals. I use various therapeutic skills tailored to each client's needs based on the most current research. Clients develop the insight and tools needed to make the desired, lasting changes in their lives. I focus on skill building and problem solving restoring balance. I offer video therapy for self-pay and some EAP clients. I completed my PhD and master degree from Ohio State University. I have worked for the State of Ohio in community mental health, Veteran's Affairs in the acute and long-term psychiatric units, and teaching faculty for the University of North Carolina and Marshall University and I currently teach adjunct at West Virginia University.

  • Steven Dreyer, PHD

    Dr. Dreyer received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota. He has been practicing for over 30 years, and has been the Director of Psychological and Neuropsychological Services at PsyCare since 2000. He has an extensive background in both the assessment and treatment of various mental disorders. Dr. Dreyer also has developed an active forensic practice, conducting neuropsychological and/or psychological evaluations for both civil and criminal cases. He is the Neuropsychological Consultant for the Charleston Area Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and is also a Clinical Associate Professor for the West Virginia University Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Dreyer is an adjunct faculty member for the Marshall University Psychology Department Psy.D. Program. He is a Diplomate in Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology, through the American Board of Psychological Specialties. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Advanced Practice Psychologists. Dr. Dreyer is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and is a member of the American Psychological Association, West Virginia Psychological Association, International Neuropsychological Society, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He is a past President of the West Virginia Psychological Association. Dr. Dreyer is a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners.

  • Terry Lusher, LPC

    Terry Lusher, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of West Virginia. He started Encouraging Words, Inc. along with his wife Deborah in 1996. As a Vietnam veteran, he is able to relate to survivor and trauma recovery issues. Terry brings a wealth of professional skills and personal experiences to his therapeutic relationships. He spent about twenty years working with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed adolescents in treatment programs in Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina and West Virginia. Terry works with individuals and families dealing with a wide range of issues and concerns. Specializing in non-traditional therapies, Terry often successfully treats the more difficult problems that clients present and for whom the traditional therapies have not worked. Terry treats a variety of issues using QEEG Analysis and Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is designed to literally do " Brain Training". This technique teaches a person's brain to self regulate. Neurofeedback is a very effective approach for treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, migraines, etc. Many clients report significant relief very quickly.
